Jerome Bain-King - From Prahan - Victoria Australia: I grew up in the back seat of french cars, earliest memory is of traveling in our R 12 sedan. my parents have owned many French cars, citroens, peugeots and of course renaults such as R 12 wagon/ sedan, R 15, R16 and now also a Fuego. So naturally when I got my P plates I took out a loan and purchased a beautiful midnight blue 85 model Fuego, I fell in love with the car instantly. Most of the other guys at school were interested in Holdens and Toyotas etc. Had one of the teachers try to drag me off in his v8 Holden 1 tonner, he was a tad jealous i think but I was damn proud to be driving that Fuego. The girls loved been seen it. Sadly however about 6 months later a tree fell on it in MY driveway, the car was a write off and insurance didnt cover it. Me and a mate stripped the car for parts which i put under the house, knowing eventually i would buy another Fuego. 5 years past, I rolled my Toyota 4runner- almost killed me! decided i would be safer in a sedan so i started looking for another Fuego. After 3 months of hunting I spotted a mid blue 85 fuego 5 minutes down the road from me, sitting on the side of the road looking very neglected and messy, I left a note on the windscreen for the owner, asking if he was interested in selling it. He called me a few days later and told me infact that he was just about to sell it before I had left that note. I purchased the car off him for next to nothing, as he knew it was in a bad way. Anyway after many thousands of dollars and new gearbox shes starting to come good, I have just found a new bonnet (turbo version) which I will put on when I get the car resprayed (Mid-Night Blue of course), plan to get some better mags, wider and lower, new sports suspension and exhaust, the question is where to stop? What I love about the Fuego is it's beautiful flowing curves and timeless appearance, it is surely destined to be a classic. Fuego forever!!
